We are pleased to announce that Bloom is now a ‘Social Value Pioneer’ as part of Social Value UK’s pioneering community.
Social Value UK is the national network for social impact and social value. Social Value UK works with members to embed core principles for social value measurement and analysis, building a powerful movement of like-minded people to influence policy.
As the gap between rich and poor increases and the effects of climate change become more apparent, the work of Social Value UK has never been more urgent. Members share a common vision: to ensure decision making, ways of working and resource allocation are based on the principles of accounting for value leading to increased equality.
At Bloom, social value is an integral part of our procurement process. We have recently launched our dedicated Social Value Programme which aims to increase sustainability within the 3rd sector. The programme focuses on incorporating 3rd sector suppliers into our supply chain and supports buyers with social value specifications and evaluation criteria. It will also include bespoke training and events designed to increase the 3rd sector’s financial viability.
Our Social Value Programme has already made great strides; success stories to date include Knowsley Disability Concern and the Furniture Resource Centre (FRC). Bloom is currently commissioning training from the FRC Group to help VCSEs increase their commercial income streams and Knowsley Disability Concern, via ‘Your Payroll’, have been appointed as Bloom’s own payroll provider. To date, 70% of our projects have been delivered by SMEs and this has enabled our customers to drive significant growth back into local economies.
It is fantastic to be a part of Social Value UK’s pioneering network, working alongside similar-minded organisations, to help us achieve our mission of opening up procurement to bring together a community of buyers and suppliers; ensuring that social value is an integral part of procurement.
