The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) issued a consultation on its green paper entitled Building our Industrial Strategy.
The paper sets out a vision for a “modern British Industrial Society” thriving in a post-Brexit world. It proposes a strategy for ten pillars which drive growth in successful economies. Procurement is one of those ten pillars so Bloom was delighted to respond to this consultation.
The Bloom BEIS consultation response makes comments and recommendations that we believe will help to drive innovation and achieve better outcomes in professional services procurement.
Our recommendations are grouped in four themes:
- Supporting SMEs – suggesting ways to keep opening up procurement and ensure the government achieves its target of 33% of spend with SME suppliers by 2020
- Changing the culture of procurement – creating a more commercial culture with a realistic approach to risk. Building a dynamic supply chain for the public sector
- Innovation – a requirement to consider innovation as a fundamental part of all procurement projects
- Collaboration – helping the public sector get more value through real-time data and knowledge sharing
