COVID-19 has placed an unprecedented strain on the UK economy. The Office for National Statistics acknowledged an economic contraction of 20.4% in the second quarter of 2020. Although there have been some green shoots of recovery as sectors of the economy have been unlocked, it is clear the damage of this economic shock will be felt for many years to come.
In order to address this, many public sector organisations have adopted a programme of ‘progressive procurement’ to harness their procurement spend and maximise the economic, social and environmental benefit generated for their people and places. Where this approach has been taken, the region’s businesses and economies have benefitted greatly from the authority’s spend.
In this webinar a panel of experts will discuss the challenges of creating a ‘local first’ approach to procurement, how Bloom and NEPRO³ can help authorities overcome the barriers to entry for SME suppliers, as well as providing guidance on how to positively engage with your region’s supply chain.
